Product description

This shield brooch is made in the Borre style. The historical original of this shield brooch is, according to the classification of the archaeologist Jan Petersen, referred to as a brooch of type P 51 and dates from the 9th century. The oval brooch of type P 51 was especially widespread in Western Norway, but also occurred in almost all other Viking-inhabited areas and constitutes almost half of all brooches in the Viking Age.
