This is a replica of a helmet which is found in Northwich, Great Britain. The cheek protectors are from Gloucester and show the image of a sitting Neptune. On the top of the helmet the image of hairs can be seen, this marks the place were wigs were often placed. Helmets like this were mainly worn by Germanic and Celtic cavalries who served as auxiliae in the Roman armies. Helmets like this were principally found in the Rhineland.
The helmet is made of brass and is provided with cheek plates and a short neck plate. The helmet weighs approx. 1,5 kg and is suitable for a head circumference up to 60 cm. It is delivered including an interior cotton arming cap for extra wearing comfort.
