Product description

This spearhead is a replica of an original from the 2nd half of the 10th century AD excavated in the Viking city of Dublin. Nowadays it is part of the collection of the National Museum of Ireland. The spearhead was presumably used in the years around the war between the Norse Vikings of Ireland and the Hebrides and the Irish king Brian Boru (Brian Bóruma).

Spearheads like this were used at least between the 9th and 15th century. This spearhead is quite small and can be used for both throwing and stabbing. It is provided with two short "wings". This spearhead was used by the Vikings and the Gaelic people of Ireland and Scotland.

This spearhead has a length of 14,5 cm and a blade with a max. width of 2,2 cm. The ring has a width of approx. 1,1 cm.

This item is a museum replica.
