Product description

The Roman Lorica Hamata is directly inspired by Celtic design, as the Celts are considered the people who invented mailing. The Lorica Hamata reconstructed here retains many of its original Celtic characteristics, making it particularly well-suited to use as equipment for Roman or Celtic cavalrymen, or indeed for Caesar's legionaries during the Gallic Wars, or similar legionaries who fought in Hannibal's armies during the Punic Wars.

Carefully crafted by hand from sturdy 17-gauge unriveted flat rings (approximately 9 mm in diameter), alternating with flat rings secured by round rivets. The rings are constructed from mild steel and are woven together in a 4:1 pattern. This means that each ring is attached to four other rings.
