Product description
This beautiful single-handed sword is a replica of one of the best-preserved medieval swords. The original was owned for some time by E.A. Christensen, a well-known Danish sword collector. His drawings of the medieval sword were featured in the book “Gammelt Jern” published by A.B. Hoffmeyer in 1968. It is classified as a Type XIV according to Oakeshott´s typology and dated to the period between 1275 and 1340. The find spot of the original sword, now on display at the National Museum of Denmark in Copenhagen, is unknown.
The sword has a broad, double-edged blade that tapers toward the tip. Two deep fullers run along almost the entire length of the blade and the cutting edges are not sharpened. The quillons are slightly curved and the red leather-wrapped wooden grip ends in a K-type pommel with facetted edges. The centre of the pommel is adorned with a red circular accent on both sides. This sword comes complete with a red wood-and-leather scabbard equipped with a brass chape and a beautiful sword belt made of sturdy leather. The belt can be adjusted to various sizes thanks to the flower-shaped brass eyelets. This medieval sword is designed as a collector’s or decoration/display piece. Besides its quality as a collectible, it is also perfectly suited as a prop, e.g. to complete your costume, and will make your transformation into a proud knight just perfect.Details:

Prevent rust and corrosion by oiling your weapons regularly. Remove rust easily with black sandpaper. Remove burrs with a whetstone. Make sure you have removed all burrs before using a battle-ready weapon, as they can cause wounds.
Maintenance & care
Just as with weaponry, you can care for your shoes and leatherware by applying a little Ballistol after cleaning. This prevents the leather from drying out.
Tip: How to adjust the finish of your armour and weaponry
Luxurious (polished)- polish the steel with metal polish or toothpaste. You can even give the item a mirror-like polish. Test on a small surface first!
Handmade (matte)- soak the steel in cola for 40 minutes to 20 hours. Check regularly and treat with black sandpaper.
Antique (patinated) leave the steel to rust for some time in a damp environment, preferably outside. Remove the red layer of rust, to reveal the corroded top layer.
