In the thirteenth century people aimed after producing a combined slashing and thrusting weapon and the battle axe could still be recognised in the halberd. In the fourteenth century a hook was placed at the back side to pull enemy horsemen from their horse. As a result infantrymen suddenly became a serious enemy of the cavalry.
Descriptions tell us that both a man and his horse could be cleft with just one blow of the halberd. Experienced infantrymen could drive their halberd through a suit of armour with one blow.
This is a German halberd with a length of 230 cm. The wooden shaft consists of two parts that can be screwed to each other at the middle.

Tip: How to adjust the finish of your armour and weaponry
Luxurious (polished)- polish the steel with metal polish or toothpaste. You can even give the item a mirror-like polish. Test on a small surface first!
Handmade (matte)- soak the steel in cola for 40 minutes to 20 hours. Check regularly and treat with black sandpaper.
Antique (patinated) leave the steel to rust for some time in a damp environment, preferably outside. Remove the red layer of rust, to reveal the corroded top layer.

3. Paper packaging for jewelry and small items: these have a plastic inner layer. Remove these, then separate your paper and plastic.
