Description

The so-called great helmet, also known as a pot helmet or heaume, was often worn over a smaller, lighter helmet. It was widespread all over Central Europe in the Middle Ages and this model is made after miniatures and finds from Germany, Flanders, England, Italy, Switzerland, Austria, etc. These helmets appeared at the time of the Crusades in the late 12th century. early 13th century and used by the knights well into the 14th century. To stand out and emphasize their status, kings often wore a pot helmet with a battlefield crown. In this way, they could be more easily recognized by their own soldiers in battle and were given special protection. Possibly the crown also offered the king the opportunity to be held hostage and held for ransom rather than immediately killed by the enemy This medieval helmet replica is made of 1.6 mm (16 gauge) steel and adorned with a riveted brass crown. The individual parts are all connected by steel rivets. The visor slits are each approx. 13 cm long, 0.5 to 1 cm wide and the many round recesses on the right side provide the necessary air circulation. The blackened interior has a leather inlay, and the adjustable chin strap made of brown 3 mm thick leather has a brass buckle (with antique finish). This helmet is perfect for medieval reenactment, noble costumes and for helmet collectors.
