Product description

This sword is an accurate replica of the sword of the famous English king Henry the Vth. He may have worn this sword during the Battle of Agincourt in the Hundred Years' War. Just like the original, this sword is lightly decorated with gold paint and the famous cross of St. George. Ewart Oakeshott, a noted English enthusiast, researcher and author of important books on swords, described Henry V's sword as "... one of the finest medieval swords I have ever seen. ... it has the balance of a good fishing rod." Like the original, this is a relatively compact weapon, specially designed for smooth cutting and thrusting movements. The blade shows a light bleed, and the edge was carefully applied during production. The balance is excellent, making the weapon feel lively in the hand. The pommel, also hollow like the original model, is suitably gilded in the recesses, with crosses of red enamel on each side (enamel was chosen instead of paint for its improved durability). Henry was one of the most powerful kings of England and is best known for his involvement in the Hundred Years' War against France and his war against the Welsh leader Owain Glyndwr. The sword disappeared for years until it turned up in a tomb in Westminster Abby. It is decorated to give just enough flair for a king. This weapon was clearly intended for no-nonsense fighting rather than ceremonial activities. Today the sword is part of the collection of Westminster Abby in the City of Westminster.

Prevent rust and corrosion by oiling your weapons regularly. Remove rust easily with black sandpaper. Remove burrs with a whetstone. Make sure you have removed all burrs before using a battle-ready weapon, as they can cause wounds.

Tip: How to adjust the finish of your armour and weaponry
Luxurious (polished)- polish the steel with metal polish or toothpaste. You can even give the item a mirror-like polish. Test on a small surface first!
Handmade (matte)- soak the steel in cola for 40 minutes to 20 hours. Check regularly and treat with black sandpaper.
Antique (patinated) leave the steel to rust for some time in a damp environment, preferably outside. Remove the red layer of rust, to reveal the corroded top layer.

Please note. After finishing the product yourself, the warranty and return right expire. Celtic WebMerchant is not responsible for the obtained result."
