Product description

The flamboyantly dressed German Landsknecht mercenary led a harsh, ruthless life. They were famous for their huge, two-meter-long Flamberge sword. After the Flamberge was used to break through the enemy's line of pikemen, a smaller, one-handed sword was used for the ensuing close-range engagement - the Katzbalger. The Katzbalger (roughly translates to "cat's belly") was highly stylized and designed as an effective cutting and thrusting sword. From the 14th century, Swiss pikemen established themselves as dominant mercenaries. But an equally courageous, sturdy competitor later appeared from Germany. Landsknecht forces challenged Swiss superiority in a ruthless rivalry that lasted for years. The S"-shaped protection and an extra long, grooved pommel were characteristic of the Katzbalger. This replica is just as combat-ready as the originals. The beautifully designed grip would make any Landsknecht proud. The grooves in the pommel flow seamlessly into the wooden handle, and the guard is expertly spirally twisted and ends in finger rings. The hardened, high carbon steel blade is decorated with three fullers that reduce weight.

Prevent rust and corrosion by oiling your weapons regularly. Remove rust easily with black sandpaper. Remove burrs with a whetstone. Make sure you have removed all burrs before using a battle-ready weapon, as they can cause wounds.

Tip: How to adjust the finish of your armour and weaponry
Luxurious (polished)- polish the steel with metal polish or toothpaste. You can even give the item a mirror-like polish. Test on a small surface first!
Handmade (matte)- soak the steel in cola for 40 minutes to 20 hours. Check regularly and treat with black sandpaper.
Antique (patinated) leave the steel to rust for some time in a damp environment, preferably outside. Remove the red layer of rust, to reveal the corroded top layer.

Please note. After finishing the product yourself, the warranty and return right expire. Celtic WebMerchant is not responsible for the obtained result."
