Product description
The Justaucorps or Justacorps is a seventeenth century coat that was worn first in armies from different European countries. After this the jacket gradually became a fashionable garment for the ordinary citizens. People wore this type of coats in the Dutch Golden Age, in the Napoleonic era, and people such as hijackers, pirates, musketeers and jacobites also wore this coat. Presumably pirates stole this kind of coats from rich merchants and made it part of their own uniform.
The coat is made of sturdy cotton and is fully lined on the inside. It has a nice close-fitting top and is flared at the bottom. It has brass buttons on the sleeves, on the chest and on the pockets. Characteristic for these coats are the colored horizontal and vertical strips.
