This buckle is perfect if you want to make your own Roman belt, or as a replacement part of a belt. Buckles like this were found in Mainz, Germany and were originally part of a Roman legionary belt, the cingulum or the balteus. The buckle has no holes, to fasten it to a belt it is necessary to drill holes in it.
