Product description

The scutum was a shield employed by Roman soldiers. The republican scutum had an oval shape; in later times the shape became rectangular. The scuta were often curved in order to intercept blows.

The shield is a replica of that which was used whilst conquering large parts of the world. Crafted from wood and covered with linen, it measures 122.5 cm in length and 65 cm in width, and weighs approximately 6 kg.
