A wonderful accessory for Roman re-enactment and for making your own costumes. In the Roman army, phalerae (discs that symbolised medals or trophies) or torques were awarded to soldiers who had distinguished themselves in battle. These were crafted from silver, bronze or gold. During military parades, Romans wore the phalerae on their leather armour. The torques were worn at the level of the collarbone, on a red scarf known as a focale. These torques are decorated with lion heads and are delivered in pairs. They have a diameter of 11.5 cm.
