Product description

This earthenware cylinder is made after the cylinder in which the Dead Sea Scrolls were stored. Just like the scrolls they date from the period between 250 BC and 50 AD. The cylinders protected the scrolls from damage and wear. Cylinders like these were used all over the classical world.

This cylinder is completely handmade of red clay. It is made on a potter`s wheel and has a lid. It is completely functional and can be used for storaging papyrus scrolls. It has a height of 22 cm and a diameter of 11 cm.
