Product description

This lamp is based on the 7th century original found in the Anglo-Saxon boat grave of Sutton Hoo. Oil lamps like these were used everywhere by the Germanic tribes. A comparable Viking original has been found in the 9th century Oseberg ship. It can be lit with beeswax just like the originals, simply adding some small wooden pieces as a wick, or a piece of dried tinder fungus. To extinguish it, simply place a wooden plank on the tray.
