Product description
This surcoat is based on the overcoats worn by sergeants of the Knights Templar. Before it was worn by soldiers and nobles to distinguish each other on the battlefield, surcoats were a humble piece of clothing, worn by monks and the lower classes to stay clean while working. The Knights Templar wore it to suggest piety and protect themselves from the hot sun of the Levant, and it became an iconic part of their image. The non-noble sergeants had to wear black or brown overcoats while knights of noble birth wore white robes.
