Product description
This belt fitting is made in the Jellinge style (890-990). It can be used as decoration on leather objects, like belts and bags. It measures 1,8 x 2,5 cm and is bronze coloured.
The decoration of this belt fitting is based on the decoration of the silver cup excavated from the pagan chamber-grave at Jelling, Jutland, Denmark. King Gorm was presumably buried here. This cup shows the same ribbon-animal decoration with striped bodies and heads in profile with round eyes. This cup has given the Jellinge style its name.
