Product description

This bronze Viking pendant is decorated with the Aegisjalmur motif. Aegisjalmur, or Helmet of Awe, is a powerful symbol of Norse mythology and can be seen in manuscripts from the Middle Ages to the eighteenth century. The name is derived from the god Aegir, god of the seas of Jotunheim, the land of the ice giants. In the Edda, the dragon Fafnir says that he is invincible because he wears this symbol. Many Vikings wore this symbol during battle, hoping that it would strengthen them and make them victorious like Fafnir. This pendant is made of cast bronze en is perfect for modern Vikings or for Viking costumes.
