Product description

This replica sword is based on historical swords from the ninth century, the Viking age. The Vikings highly regarded strength and power, in the early Middle Ages the Vikings plundered monasteries and other places of wealth like Lindisfarne. At the same time, the Vikings were also farmers, especially opportunists who had to live in difficult and cold areas and were always looking for better places to live. The ninth century was also the century in which Danish Vikings sought their luck in England. In 871 they fought a major battle against Prince Alfred, later known as Alfred the Great, who led the army of King Ethelred of Wessex. The Vikings lost this battle, but for the rest of the century they would return to this auspicious land to conquer parts of it. This sword has a beautiful segmented grip with brown leather, a typical Viking pommel and a cross-guard with knot motifs from the Viking art. The pommel and guard are patinated so that it looks like a real antique old sword. The sword has a long, wide fuller, so it is quite light in weight and has an excellent balance. It feels comfortable in the hand. It is delivered including a very luxurious scabbard with brass scabbard tip and a sword belt so you can hang it around your waist. The semi-sharp blade is forged from 1065 carbon steel and tempered with a hardness of 48-52 HRC. This sword is a beautiful sword for the wall in your own Viking hall and great for your Viking costume or Cosplay from Vikings or Last Kingdom. If you blunten the blade, it is a perfect sword for sword fighting, Historical European Martial Arts and Viking reenactment battles.

Prevent rust and corrosion by oiling your weapons regularly. Remove rust easily with black sandpaper. Remove burrs with a whetstone. Make sure you have removed all burrs before using a battle-ready weapon, as they can cause wounds.

Maintenance & care
Just as with weaponry, you can care for your shoes and leatherware by applying a little Ballistol after cleaning. This prevents the leather from drying out.

Tip: How to adjust the finish of your armour and weaponry
Luxurious (polished)- polish the steel with metal polish or toothpaste. You can even give the item a mirror-like polish. Test on a small surface first!
Handmade (matte)- soak the steel in cola for 40 minutes to 20 hours. Check regularly and treat with black sandpaper.
Antique (patinated) leave the steel to rust for some time in a damp environment, preferably outside. Remove the red layer of rust, to reveal the corroded top layer.

Please note. After finishing the product yourself, the warranty and return right expire. Celtic WebMerchant is not responsible for the obtained result."
